Since 1982, 'Carrying the Mail' has been one of th Since 1982, 'Carrying the Mail' has been one of the enduring traditions of the @gladstoneportscorporation Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.

Each year, specially produced first covers are carried by selected yachts from Brisbane to Gladstone, cancelled at the start line and stamped again on arrival, linking offshore sailing with Australia’s postal and maritime history.

In the 2025 race, BOLT Out of the Blue was honoured to carry the mail for the multihull fleet. Phillipa and Allan Bolt also created the commemorative plaque now displayed in the foyer of Queensland Cruising Yacht Club, recognising every yacht that has carried the mail since the tradition began.

Read the full story of Carrying the Mail on our website.

With thanks to the Gladstone and District Philatelic Society Inc.

At the heart of the @gladstoneportscorporation Bri At the heart of the @gladstoneportscorporation Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race sits the Courier Mail Cup, the second oldest continuously awarded trophy in Australian offshore sailing.

Awarded to the overall IRC winner, the @couriermail Cup is one of the most sought after prizes in offshore racing, placing the winning skipper and crew alongside generations who have taken on the 308 nautical mile passage to Gladstone.

As official timekeeper, Adina Watches presents a specially designed winners edition timepiece to the IRC winning skipper and crew, and the Line Honours skipper.

The 78th Gladstone Ports Corporation Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race starts from Shorncliffe on Good Friday 3 April 2026 and finishes in Gladstone over Easter, where crews and families can enjoy Easter in Gladstone.

Whether racing, watching from the shoreline, or following the livestream, this is offshore sailing at its best.

Not every crew chasing the Brisbane to Gladstone Y Not every crew chasing the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race is aiming for line honours. For many, the Performance Handicap System division, better known as PHS, is the perfect way to take part.

PHS handicaps are based on past performance, which means older boats, cruising yachts and newer crews can still be genuinely competitive. If you meet Category 3 plus safety requirements and have a few races on the board, you can have a real go.

Classic yachts like Wistari, cruisers not designed for racing, and sailors building experience all regularly line up in the PHS fleet.

To encourage more everyday sailors to enter, Peter and Kris Holm have donated the PHS trophy along with a cash prize for first place.

Well, that's a wrap! Thank you for joining us for Well, that's a wrap! Thank you for joining us for the 77th Gladstone Ports Corporation Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Raceβ€”what an incredible journey it’s been!

Spectators were treated to spectacular Easter sunshine, while our competitors faced a true test of skill and endurance over the 308-nautical-mile course.

With light winds at the start, glassy stretches and unpredictable tides, this year’s race demanded every ounce of patience and tactical brilliance. The first boats reached Gladstone late Sunday morning, with others still making their way to the harbour well into Monday.

To every sailor, volunteer, supporter and, of course, our amazing major sponsors Gladstone Ports Corporation and Gladstone Regional Council β€” thank you for making this iconic event possible.
