Meet Maritimo Katwinchar, a remarkable 32 foot ket Meet Maritimo Katwinchar, a remarkable 32 foot ketch built in 1904 and one of the great characters of the Australian offshore racing scene.

Believed to be the oldest yacht to compete in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, this historic timber vessel was meticulously restored by Bill Barry Cotter of Maritimo.

Katwinchar proved she still has plenty of spirit, winning the Grand Veterans division in the 2019 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and returning to the race again in 2024 and 2025.

This year she joins the Gladstone Ports Corporation Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race fleet, skippered by Michael Spies.
